KENNEL HISTORY

 

 

                 Mrs Bouriaud started her breeding in 168. It was situated in a mansion at "la Chapelle sur Erdre" near Nantes. We had only 20 dogs: Cocker, Dalmatian, German Shepard, Korthals, Bouvier des Flandres, Giant Schnauzer, and wire fox terrier. Puppies sold by my mother were coming back sometimes on boarding, because there was not a lot of kennel in them days, so we started the boarding. We stayed only one year in that place and my parents bought a mansion in "Sucé sur erdre", called Launay.

                 In 1971, we've build kennels for the boarders witch were increasing a lot. We also added different breads: Skye Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Lakeland Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Shih-tzu, Standard Schnauzer and Miniature schnauzer in black, Scottish Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Airedale Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, but we stopped with some others: Dalmatian, German Shepard, Michel Bouriaud my second brother kept the Korthals and Yann Bouriaud my third brother kept the Bouvier des Flandres. All the family was contaminated!

                 All the dogs had pedigrees so we started the dog shows and to travel all around France, leaving very early in the morning and coming back very late. Sometimes disappointed, more often happy. We picked up lot of knowledge about showing dogs, trimming them and at the same time about there breeds and there ancestors. We went many times abroad: Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Belgium, to contest and in England but as tourist specially at Cruft when it was in London, and to bring back dogs to improve our breeds.

                 In 1980, my parents moved the kennel to improve it. We had then a building for the breading for about fifty dogs, two kennels for the dogs in boarding for 80 dogs, two catteries for 40 cats. As I mist my BAC C (science) and didn't want to carry on studies I went in 1981 in England to work in a kennel of 30 West Highland White Terrier called " Lasara Kennel". There was also a boarding and a trimming of all breeds were I got more knowledge. After a year spend there, they give me a diploma. When I came back in France I started a grooming office by a vet, and I gave breading lessons at "Carentoir".

                 At least in 1996, I took over my mother and kept same breeders name "des Regaires", witch she had since 1972. As I got married with an English man I changed my name for Groom, well adapted in our work. Now we still have the dogs and the cats boarding, the trimming of dogs and the breeding of: Schnauzers Giant Standard and miniature in black, West Highland White Terrier, Lakeland Terrier, English Cocker Spaniel, Shih-tzu, Yorkshire terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and we carry on with the dog show as the amount of cup at the kennel can prove it.
